That Manager shouldn't have been engaging him like that. They're both idiots, and undoubtably the big dude is going to end up being at fault, but they way the manager handled the situation was pretty fucking stupid.

This as soon as anything was said it should have been in private with a witness, another manager.

Why don't they put roomba's on each corner of the cart? and all four roomba will be sync'd up and once they pass a line (say the exit door) they will return to "home" once its empty? ™

When I lived in Chicago, the Target in the South Loop had carts that were not allowed outside the store. There was some sort of electronic barrier that, if passed with the cart, triggered an actuator to lock the wheels down in the cart so they wouldn't move. No "return home" feature, though. That would have been cool. And LMAO at your TM.

They are quite common here in CA, even the "nice" grocery store that I go to has them.

I was about to say the same thing. The manager should be fired as well for all of that. There is no reason to confront some one in the break room about job performance or any issues at work. It should all have taken place behind closed doors. Doing it infront of an audience provokes everyone involved to stand up for themselves. The second it gets heated the manager should have stepped away and told him they will talk in private and get everything straightened out.

Several of my target stores have locking wheel carts
Its just based on monthly cart count audits. The wheels lock st the perimeter of the parkinglot so homeless and bus goers cant take them far away
