aggie97, yeah, this was a fun and well-run event, but there was a LOT of traffic. 45 cars on course and a lot of lower hp one (well, I guess pretty much all of them were lower hp. haha). The January Driver's Edge event was a lot faster and only 35 cars on track, so I got some good laps in then.
I'm hearing rumors that there are groups that have had 60 cars on track at once. How did the track surface look after all the racing and now a handful of HPDE's? is it holding up well?

I heard up to 85 for the Spec Miata and/or the SRF race. That is just completely insane. Re: the track surface, it's truly incredible and COTA is being very careful to maintain it to a very high quality (for the real races that come into town, i.e. F1, etc.). It's hard to describe how smooth and grippy the surface is compared to other tracks. Your slicks almost look new after a weekend of beating on them at COTA. Obviously, there is some visible wear, but nothing that looks like TWS, MSR, etc. Apparently, there is 1 paving machine that F1 uses that they fly around the world to pave F1 tracks and there is a very notable difference. I don't know the material compound differences and how the paving machine works compared to normal paving machines, but something is special.

You should try to run at COTA at some point just to experience the track and surface feel/grip.

It sounds just like Miller Motorsport Park in Utah. Same FIA certified surface. Car setup is really pointless because there is so much grip!!! LOL!

I may run it someday but no going to go out of my way to make it happen. Too many things going on the rest of this year for me to squeeze it in.

I've heard Miller is a great track too. There are several tracks I haven't run at that are on my bucket list and Miller is one of them, though probably behind Laguna, VIR, and Road Atlanta.

Miller is super nice. If you go, check-out the Ford/Shelby collection that they have there by the main gate. They have probably 30 original Cobras, a Daytona coupe, and a few original GT-40s. Plus millions in NOS parts in boxes. It's pretty wild. I believe the NASA runoffs are there this year if you needed an excuse to go!

NASA nationals are there in September....and they extended the discount sign up. It's the 3.0 mile outer loop, not the long course. It might get boring compared to a Laguna or Sears Point (or infineon now). Road atlanta would be a great track as would barber and maybe VIR. I'd like to look into road america too.

If you do go to miller plan for high altitude and thin air that doesn't cool very well.
