If they feel secure enough to make racket on all the houses surrounding the guy, pull the families out of their homes (voluntarily or not) into the open where he could open fire on them, then there really shouldn't be an issue with "Hi, guy next door is nuts and may have a shotty. We'd prefer you head on out but if not, sign here and we'll be on to the next house."

I have to wonder how well you'd respond to someone beating on your door at night telling you that someone has a gun so leave your safe house and run across the yard in the open because it's 'safer.' And how many houses do you have to clear to guard against a shotgun? Holy fuck. That's maybe 2 houses with the extreme possibility of the one across the street. Maybe.
Well, you don't go to the door that exposes you to the threat for starters.

You ignored my question. What if they refuse to sign? Who is liable?

The shotgun is a KNOWN factor. What about the possibility of other weapons. There are a LOT of guns in this country, and a lot of people (Vets) who are trained to use them. Hell, I was out shooting yesterday and there were TWO Barrett .50 BMG rifles out there in civilian hands.

And finally, I'm not sure if you thought this through, but you don't evacuate across the kill zone. Didn't the Army teach you this?

Yes, there are a lot of guns in the country. Are you saying the department with all of those officers who seem to think it's okay to pull people from their homes and lead them like puppies across open areas to a 'safe area' through kill zones instead of recognizing that brick and lumber and sheetrock and furniture will provide a good deal of protection from projectiles as compared to...open areas.

So what if there were 10 Barretts? What's your point? Does it scare you that they had those weapons? Hell, for many years I had one that I shot fairly regularly out here. Know who wasn't worried? The Sheriff's department.

If you're pulling people out of a house, you have to lead them somewhere. If you're leading them anywhere around the house in question, it's a kill zone as you're suddenly worried about 50 caliber rounds bursting through houses to kill the occupants. If they don't sign, that's on them. You have those nifty mics on your uniform right? You have it recorded that they said they're staying, the paperwork is just added protection.

Don't act like you are out there with .22's and 3 guys with no tech, radios or recorders to engage Rambo with a 240.

Edit: Your ignorance on some of this leads me to ask. What was your MOS in the Marines? If you were an infantryman and still act like this, they trained you badly or the years of being a cop have fucked your head up

You mean you're a ginger with an inferiority complex that has the need to try to bait autoparts salesmen into a fight in a ring because you don't want to be held responsible for venting your frustration and anger on someone without the training you have because you're not me.

That's okay though As I said before, we all need cheerleaders.

            • Is there a way they can look up the progress without the serial #? The dealer I bought the sparrow through hasnt gotten back to me with the serial number. I sent the paper work in last November.

              • I realize this was not Texas but I would guess a few states have similar laws.

The guy wanted a response from the police and he got it.

It appears to be a SWAT operation, Bearcat out front. He is familiar with the process (assuming the position). He achieved his goal but forgot to secure his dog.

It looked like the officer was trying to calm the dog while the other officer tried to move the "problem half" away from the dog. Bad thing is the dog was being a dog and protecting his owner. I feel bad for the dog. This falls squarely on the owner.

                  • Here's a second video that paints a clearer picture of the events leading up to the dog being shot. Not quite as FTP one-sided as a lot of you want to believe.

"In the wake of a shocking video that showed Hawthorne police officers fatally shooting a dog, the department has released a second video that it says exonerates the officers.
                      LOL, yeah right...

                      • I heard a megaphone, and police trying to talk to the suspects.
How would they be able to hear anything back with that fucking moron/naynay/trayvon sitting there blaring music.

                          • It really didn't change anything for me. I saw the officer stick a hand out in what looked like an attempt to either let the dog smell or to grab the leash. When the officer did that motion again, the dog tried to bite the officer and was shot. I had no issues with the shooting before and I have no issues with it now. Granted the whole situation could have been avoided if the guy had kept his windows up, stayed out of the situation etc. But regardless, what happened happened. In my opinion it's a good shoot.
