  • Passing other cars on The Loneliest Road in America

Route 50, Nevada, September 2011. There is so little out there even the video doesn't seem like we're moving that fast. A shame we didn't have the camera rolling when we were buzzed by the F16.

I let off cocksuck! The highest I took it was in the 135-140 range. It got pretty floaty over 120. I'm surprised Hertz didn't remote shut it off after the shit we pulled in that car. lolz

        Cool video! I've driven it many times. One week, a few years ago, I traveled 90, 80, 70, 60, 40, 30, 20, and 10. 50 was the only one I missed.

When you're on the road a lot, these are the games you play

Edit: I managed 95 (laden) in my rig before letting off. To this day, that's the fastest it's gone.

It's incredible out there, but it would be pretty boring with one person. I drove some roads in Canada last year that were even 'lonelier.' I just stumbled across that vid in my album and don't think I'd even watched it before. What I thought was funny was how long we were on the wrong side of the road.

That car felt like dog shit at anything over 110. The suspension on standard GTs is downright criminal.

The 1st week I got my car. I went to Bedford to pick up some ammo. I had mine at same speed 135-140. These cars feel Extremely comfortable Confident. Even at those speeds. On the highway It feels like I'm doing 60-65 mph. But I'll look at the Gauges. More like 75mph.

I do not believe that for one second. I'll bet it is floaty as hell.

yeah, I bet it gets pretty light at 100+

the aero is way different, but this is our fairmont at ~125-130

Yeah I feel like I'm going to die going over 65 in my stock 4 banger zephyr. Hood pins should have came standard on these cars.

"To me" it feels Stable at those speeds.

I do not feel comfortable in my '13 at over 110. Has to be a decent road to even consider it. That said, on road trips I keep it at a steady 100-105 where I can. The stretch from San Antonio to Corpus is perfect for it, unless you get assclown left lane campers.

Edit: and that is ALL suspension. The engine is just begging for you to put the foot down more at those speeds and still pulls like a motherfucker.

Then you've never driven a car with a stable suspension. A stock Mustang is far too tall, with springs and shocks that are far too soft. I don't know why they tuned the suspension for the Grand Marquis bluehairs, but the entire suspension needs to be thrown away if you consistently get the car over 90.

That is no joke. The powerband and gearing in these cars makes them highway flyers.
