I remember seeing a 63 Chevy with a 409 and two 4's and a 4 speed turn a 14.,00 flat. Man, we said a street car can't out do that. The next week a 63 Ford with a 427, two fours and a four speed turned a 13.50. Holy shit ! It wasn't long till the 427 went in a 64 Falcon and the the times went into the low 12's. There was a BEAUTIFUL 32 Ford 5 window coupe with a full house Flathead that was the national "RF" gas record holder that turned high 13's and then drove it home. Those were the days. You have not seen drag racing till you see a Henry Jay with a 427 Ford "FE" motor line up with a 55 Chevy running an early 327 with a roller cam and fender well headers. The times were not anywhere they are today, but that was drag racing. Y&ep, I am OLD.
