With the audible rpm in the video, I'd say its a balls out 331, 500whp isn't impossible, just very expensive and tedious.

You would be surprised what some compression with race gas coupled with a nice set of heads and good cam will make. And since its rwhp the 5 speed helps "show" more power the the tires. My 347 with ots basic cheap Chinese heads, basic cam 10:1 etc made 430 to the tires on a stock tune... With a good tune and a few tweaks here and there to the engine, 450 rwhp would have been easy... That's a pump gas motor at that and I would regularly knock down 20 mpg mixed driving..

Sorry but from what I saw...that Fox didn't just beat that GTR.....he DESTROYED it. He reeled that thing in like it was off the throttle. That car is fast. Driver knows how to drive too.

No kidding! That was an awesome launch too. 95% of the GTR videos I watch, the GTR wins. Not in this case, by a long shot.

Thats a big bore short stroke 331... with a big fucken cam, but the heads arent as good as the 205s the guy has in the video... The summit motor is 11.9-1 compression, the one in the video is probably at least that...

for reference, my dad's big bore 331 (352 CID) made 482 bhp with 8.8-1 compression, a little bitch cam 224/232 .565 lift (tried to pass CA smog at the time), and smaller non ported AFR 185s... The 205 is a MUCH better head imo, and on our setup would probably get it over 510-520 bhp with no changes to the rest of the engine.

I fully believe 495 rw is a real number watching the video. It isnt rocket science, it just isnt done much because I bet that motor cost over 10 grand, and most Fox body people are cheap and would rather just throw a LS1 in the car with a cam and save 6-8 grand. IMO thats what a god damn Fox body should sound like!

I'm usually not one for drag racing vids or cars for that matter but that fox is how it's fuggin' done! I bet that car makes money all the time!!!!
