The Atlas is a concept truck. Ford has said that it was built on the current F-150 platform and not the next gen platform.
It is mostly an overdone styling exercise to show us a lot of what will be in the next gen F-150 (which is due out in Fall 2014 as a 2015 model). IMO it was mostly done to steal some of GM's thunder as they introduced their new full sized pickups. In that regard, mission accomplished since GM didn't produce much thunder anyways.
I expect the styling to be toned down quite a bit when it reaches production but I am hoping they leave a lot of the features in. The tailgate step that doubles as a cargo support and the indented roof are big winners to me. The trailer hitching system also seems like a winner.
