That's Greg's shot. Furinox. It's not HDR, just edited in Adobe Lightroom. Same program I use. Here is the one he did of my old car back in the day.

I like the format of the picture. The placement of the truck between the trains and the use of the wide angle lens happens to work here, at least in my opinion.

I personally don't care for HDR in any form. I'm not hating on those who like HDR because beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some people like it, but very few can pull it off correctly. If you can see the halo around the subject, it wasn't done correctly. My eyes see HDR as a distraction and it cheapens the shot. If you look at the progression of a photographer, you'll see a tiny blip on their path that was HDR. Myself included. Most serious photographers quickly move past it...myself included. lol

Take my thoughts with grain of salt, though.

1. Killer location, perfect placement of the Jeep and amount of wheel turn. The first thing I see is the Jeep disappearing into the trees because of the reflections of the surroundings. Plus I see you, or a buddy, in the bumper. A CPL (circular polarizer filter) would really help reduce the reflections. Black is one of the most difficult colors to shoot no matter what the situation. I'm not much on the color conversion either. My guess is you shot this on a cloudy/rainy day, but didn't like the colored reflections on the paint so you converted it so it wasn't so obvious. Am I right? I think if you got a CPL and reshot it, it'd be a great shot.

2. The street and ground lights are distracting. I'm not feeling the perspective and the location of the Jeep. It feels cramped.

3. I'm a fan of parking garage locations. In this case, the reflection on the driver's side works in your favor. There are times that reflections add to the shot. This is one of those times. I'm not sure if you tried HDR here or if you just boosted the saturation too much, but the first thing I see are purple highlights everywhere. In my opinion, that trumps everything else and kills the shot.

4. HDR... Notice how the reflections on the Acura are bluish, maybe aqua, and on the Vette they're pink? To me, it just looks unnatural. The reflections don't work in this case. Too busy.

I'm always objective when people ask for my opinion. I hope my input helps. I'm happy to look at more if you or anyone else wants some input.

Thanks! These pics are a bit older, when I first started playing around with HDR, and shooting more, but I do need a filter for sure. Had one for my old lens, got a new one that's bigger and never got a new filter. Haven't shot again in a long time (a year or so) since I've been swamped with work, but I want to get back into it.

Anytime! I wouldn't be shooting for the magazines I shoot for if I hadn't asked for constructive criticism in the past. It helps to get a second set of eyes to take a look and see what could be done differently. I still ask for input every now and then if I'm uncertain about something.

Swamped? Sounds like a good reason to get out and shoot. That was what made me pick up a camera a few years ago. I needed a stress reliever.
