64-70 Mustangs would basically look the same when hit with a 5500 pound land yacht. Pintos had sheet metal bumpers like the early Mustangs until 74, not that it would matter hitting something like that.

I'm surprised at how well the Gremlin held up compared to the other smaller cars.

I was thinking the same thing. It held up well considering it got hit with the mother of all ugly sticks.

Everyone thinkd the old "tanks" were so safe. Here's the 1959 vs 2009 Chevy...Wow!
In the 50 years since US insurers organized the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, car crashworthiness has improved. Demonstrating this was a crash test...

I guess I need to learn this embed stuff

That is kind of a one sided test. They picked an old "Tank" with light weight and hollow fenders, then did an offset test. Obviously that 59 was terrible at crash protection, but why don't they run a 64 Galaxie 500 against a Taurus and see what happens? How about a 76 Cadillac vs an 09 cadillac? 84 Buick Park Avenue vs an 09 buick?

It was done as a 50 year test. Plus, why not waste a couple of Chevys?
