63 Ford Falcon, What would you do?

Leave it alone or go ProTouring with it if you want to drop some coin, I have always thought gassers looked stupid, why make a poor handling car handle even worse. But they do seem to be popular with the Falcon crowd.

I say throw as wide a wheel front and back as you can, lower it and turbo the 6.

I am a falcon fan BTW.

Im with this guy. I dont get the gasser thing. Looks terrible. Id leave it alone. Ditch the 6 for 260-302 so u can have the rumble with the looks. That car killer as is. I love it. Props man.

Sounds like a small V8 build is a natural for it, since the tranny is there and it should be a drop-in. It runs now, so just build it as you can and do a weekend conversion. A carbed 302 with a nasty cam and exhaust would be really nice. I'd leave it alone cosmetically. That's half the fun.

I am really surprised I haven't heard more "hell yeah, Gasser!" from you guys. That's the response I have been getting at work and among friends.

My thinking on it is, I have multiple classics already. An original 71 Chevy C20, a stock 65 Mustang, a slammed 66 Ranchero, and my 69 Fastback which will be my restomod / pro-touring car. I want something different.

I'm not too concerned with handling, mileage, comfort, etc. I just want to turn heads.

The gasser build would be simple and could be done on a budget. I have lots of parts around here to choose from, sbf, FE, 3spd, 5spd, autos, even a couple more I6's. I even have a set of period correct mag wheels for it. And I can always run steel wheels. The only real expense is the front straight axle assy. A new complete kit with disc brakes runs $800. Or I could piece it together used for a few hundred.

I don't know, this is just my bright idea for the week. Things may change tomorrow. I might pick up a few ideas at Good Guys. We'll see.

But for now, lets hear some more input.

Ive kicked around building a gasser myself. If you want one, do it. Just dont put the nose so high you cant see over it.

I'd love to but they are too tall and too long. I'd have to drop the motor down, (if the steering would even let me) cut a hole in the hood, move the firewall back and flip the radiator forward of the core support.



Until the 250, the intake was cast as part of the head. You can machine it to except stuff but there is no room for better flow.

Now, if you go to a 250, the Aussie's have a butt load of cool stuff.

That's the kit I remember from the 70's. Aluminum top with mounts for 2 or 3 carbs, you milled the top off the stock intake and bolted this thing on top of it. That would be cool on there.

Yep, this wouldn't be my first. I do miss my 49 Chevy 3100.

I like 'gasser' style cars, but most of them sit ridiculously fucking high for my taste.

And radials? C'mon...



This stance is much closer to what I like, but still a little too high. Car is a little goofy.



This one is perfect. No straight axle though. And you probably wouldn't call it a 'gasser' anyway. Just a hot rod.



Same for this one. It has a Vortech supercharged 347 with two carbs under that hood.



My favorite 'style' for little '60s cars is a body shell draped over a dragster chassis!

I'm cool with the gasser thing, if you're going to put a motor in it to warrant the stance. If not, that's akin to a newer v6 Mustang with a 6" cowl hood and monster tach, rolling on slicks and skinnies.

I love the gasser cars, just yours is too nice to do that too. Buy another, possibly Ranchero and do a gasser.
