its all speculation on my end but i have heard numerous times that putting a 7 or 8 second 1/4 car on the bar is a pants shitting experience.
heres a yellowbullet thread on the topic..

I can see that happening on a poorly tuned suspension set up, making the rear tires bounce up.

i understand simple physics and human reactions. if your car is at 75* you have a better chance of reacting and getting out of the throttle vs your car being at 20* and unloading the suspension before you know whats about to happen.. but yes the suspension was not set up properly. thanks for playing brian!THE BAD HOMBRE

The wheelie bars aren't allowed in that class because wheelie bars are good for cars and having no wheelie bars tones the cars down some. Wheelie bars are used to keep the car straight while the front is in the air. If you get on the bars hard enough to unload the tires the front end was going way up anyway. It's when you bounce, have the nitrous come on too hard or your boost comes in down the track where they can be dangerous. Already going speed, the front comes up and catches air and unloads the tires at speed is when you can get sideways. that is not the bars fault is the people tuning the car and suspension.2014 GT

Yeah, wheelie bars are insanely dangerous.
That's why all Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock cars, (and Pro Stock bikes) have them.
If someone has a "wild ride" on their wheelie bar, then they didn't design it correctly. Period.
I can't help but laugh at FWD cars with them. I know why they use them (NOT for wheelies, obviously) but holy shit they look like training wheels on a bike.
