Backpressure in the stock turbo/manifold assembly is crazy high, this is probably why I saw very little hp difference with and without a muffler. 262 whp through the muffler, 267 whp through the cut out.

But, that is a very rare occurance on those little turds. I think the stock turbo record is something like 330hp. Still a waste of time and money.
I agree, a total waste of time and money to try to max it out. I owned a 2003 model and raced it, A LOT! So much that I'm one of the few that actually forked out $1300 for the Quaife LSD. Mine peaked at 279 whp and 311 ft lbs with Stage 1, cai, wga, custom dual stage boost controller, turbo back exhaust, and a custom water injection setup. It was a fun little car, especially on the road course.Annoying people, one post at a time!

I had a stage 1 and messed with the stock turbo for a little bit then got sick of it, and my friend was selling his old setup so I bought that and went with it for a while, like 4 years now. Melted the stock pistons 2 years ago, changed out the pistons and rods, lasted a while, but I fucked up two pistons a few weeks ago, and right now the motor is out of the car being rebuilt by my friend Kevyn (orphan_shelby on here), going to the machine shop soon to bore it out .020 over, machining the bed plate down, line hone, etc. to just get it all done while the motor is out of the car. Ordered a little bit bigger turbo last week, billet wheel journal bearing 6266 with a .82 a/r. Going to order some custom pistons this week hopefully and some other shit for it. Can't wait to explode my input shaft soon after it gets running again.
