Yeah, they were more fun before they got bigger/squishier. I'll be adding a Cobb FMIC, Turbo Inlet, Downpipe, FMIC, and Accessport tuner in a few months. Zoom Zoom motherfuckers!

The guy selling it had an 87 Charger GLHS and a matching 4 door. I want to say they were $4500 ea or $8500 for the pair. Both had less than 20k miles on them. I think their son bought them and either got sick or passed away and they were practically giving them away. Truly missed out on that deal and I am sad about it to this day.
It's a 86 shelby charger. That was a deal on the glhs's. There isn't much that is original on my car. I've mixed and matched parts from different cars to get the car how I want it (or as close as my wallet will let me get). My daily is a 87 Shelby CSX.

That best defines the entire performance car industry today.

Really? Did it have the fiber ride wheels?

I've driven both vintages of WRX/STI from stock to wild and the latest generation feels MUCH more planted. The earlier generations were WAY too tail happy and rode like crap in stock form. The 2008-10 cars got squishy but apparently the 2011/12 cars got a MUCH firmer suspension and ride is pretty damn good. I won't say they feel light by any means but they certainly feel lighter than they look and honestly run as good or better than the STI which is nearly 200lbs heavier than the base WRX.

Wait....why am I so jazzed about 4cyl cars all of a sudden? Damn it! Going to go watch some videos of our loud v8's.

Those came on the 89 CSX's. The original wheels were missing when I bought the car, and other than for originality I wouldn't run them anyway. I think the centurions are ugly.

the -T cars were Thrifty Rentals right? I could not remember what year those wheels came on but seemed like a cool idea till you broke one. The shelby dodges were a bunch of "parts bin" cars and not much more but damn did they run good for the day! I need to find the article where they had an 86 GLHS 4 door on a race track with a GT350 and the times were nearly identical. Can't remember if it was motortrend or Car and Driver. I might even have the Shelby parts catalog in the attic somewhere from 1990 or so.

cool to remember the crap I was into in High School....does that mean I am getting old?!

Yes the -T's were thrifty rental car. Those were in 1988.
Yep they ran pretty good for what they were. I could stomp a mudhole in a IROC's ass and hang with a 3.08 geared 87 LX back in the day with my non-intercooled GLH-turbo. I had more than one IROC driver beating on his dash in rage after I stomped him in a 4 door granny looking mobile.

That's what I liked about the previous gen WRXs, they were much more of a driver's car. The 11+ WRX was changed due to demand and complaints from customers about the car losing most of its appeal as a tuner/driver's car, and starting for 2014 the gap between the Impreza and WRX is going to broaden while the gap between the WRX and the STi is going to narrow.

4 cylinder turbo cars are the ones I'm most interested in. So much fun, and so much cool new technology. It's going to be (already starting to be) where most platforms are going to go from here on out until we can get real performance oriented alternative energy source cars, so people should start getting used to it. Smaller displacement, but bigger turbos

As are Turbo V8s, but less people are demanding big turbo motors because of fuel consumption. I understand there's no replacement for displacement and all that jazz, just something that gets me juiced about a high boost, high horsepower turbo 4.

I'm sorry, boyfriend? You must have me confused with someone else. Ricer? Sure, if you want to label it that, but I don't add unnecessary body parts and non-functional mods to my cars.
