Yeah the truck intakes are pretty ugly no matter what you do. There have been guys that completely smooth the entire intake and fill the holes left behind. I am not that concerned with it. For now it looks better then before so that is fine with me.

main reason for using truck intake vs a cheap LS1 take off?

From everything I have found the truck intake actually outperforms a stock ls1 intake especially in the lower rpm range. That is the main reason I am sticking with it. I have found many ls2 intakes for cheap which they once ported will perform better then an ls6. The truck intake should easily make the power I want and perform what I need for this heavy truck. I might look at getting the lsxrt fast intake later if I feel it needs it.

This makes me want to build a 67-72. My mom's ex-husband had a 68 LWB 2 wd. It was lifted a little. I always loved that truck. A 4wd with a 6.0 would be pretty bitchin'

Thanks seb! I was planning on being home when you stopped by but had an erran to run. Bad timing I suppose. It should be pretty easy to make the factory gauges work. Just takes time tracing the wires down.

Got some more things taken care of tonite. Started it and ran a heat cycle. Need to change my evac a little. Pretty much from here just need to get the tune straightened out, swap my adapter plates so the trans sits in the crossmember correctly, double check all fluids, and finish up a couple wiring items to make the rest of the factory gauges work and its ready to hit the muffler shop. Hoping I can get everything done Sunday so I can take it Monday to the muffler shop and get that taken care of. We will see.. On to the pics.

Here is what I did with my dbw pedal. It's perfectly in the stock location, but since the throw is a little different this is what I ended up with.

Here is where I used the factory hole and enlarged it to accept the grommet for the pedal wires.

And here is the wiring 95% done. Need to order a computer bracket. There are a few things I plan to change in the future to clean them up a little better but this is functional.

got the exhaust all done and buttoned up. Just a couple minor things left and it will be complete. Hoping to finish up the tune in the next couple days. I found out yesterday that my grandma passed away along with my great aunt So i have to travel to oklahoma city tomorrow evening to handle that. I have kept plugging away at it today, as this helps me cope with things.

Here are a couple of pictures.

All cleaned up after the muffler shop.
