Been driving the truck for a week now. Runs really good, and sounds pretty sweet! Throttle response it nice and crisp, power is really smooth and get to speed quick! took it to oklahoma to visit my uncle for his b-day. With the tune not being perfect, and pulling 2600-2700 rpms i averaged 18.78 mpg. Pretty happy with that. Hoping once the tune is finished and I can get an od trans put in, hoping to see 20+ mpg..

Thanks man. Im not completely happy with how it looks underhood. There are a few wires that I should have incorporated into the wiring harness loom but now are just ziptied along the loom but all in all its easy to work on should i ever have a problem. I'm ready to get the tune finished up and lay into it to see how it runs! Im hoping the th350 does not shit the bed! haha

2700 rpm at around 75. The trans is a th350c, I was told that the converted will lockup automatically but was also told that I needed to either wire a switch in or buy the b&m lockup box. I'm not sure so i need to look into a bit more, if its not locked up then that could be about 200 ish rpms I could drop once locked up. I haven't messed with th350's, so I'm not familiar with how these work.

You could also cheep out and just use a toggle switch that supplies 12 volts to the transmission and switch it on when you are on the hwy.
If your 350 takes a shit or you need some help figuring out the LU part let me know.

I think I've shown you this before, but here's my buddy's '84 that we swapped a 5.3 into. These pictures are pretty old; it looks real tidy under there now. The Vortec intake cover hides a lot of sins.
He used a stock harness and trimmed a lot of it out. Mike (fitzwell) converted it for use with a cable throttle. It starts and runs pretty nice, but he still hasn't run it through any normal heat cycles. He's being weird about it being tagged/inspected. lol
He has added an a/c compressor to it since these pics were taken. It's an aftermarket unit and mounts up high by the intake elbow.Last edited by 46Tbird; 05-08-2018, 08:29 AM.When the government pays, the government controls.

What would you charge me for a 4l60 btw with a 2200 rpm converter for an ls1?

Its a very simple swap. If you can afford an aftermarket harness its even easier. It could hoestly be done in a weekend if you had all the parts. The motor bolted in with the trans, accessories bolted up and I was able to reuse the ps hose. heater hoses are simple, radiator hoses are simple, and with a standalone harness, its just a couple wires and your done! a couple adapters and the factory gauges will work, then just a tune and your driving... Easiest swap i have done. The most difficult part was building the harness. I started with a truck harness and modified it to route to the back of the engine for a cleaner look.
