If this was me and since your truck is a 2012, I would be demanding all new OEM parts (unless it has very high mileage). Also, since this collision was not your wife's fault, I would be demanding loss of value right now. This collision will show up on carfax and if traded in at some point, it may not qualify as a certified used car. I'd get a dealer quote on the loss of value and present it to the insurer.
I dont know where they are sourcing the fender, but the hood is a new oem overstock.

Cool. I didn't take the time to source it, just saw they cited it as "Used/Recycled". Just checked Car-Part and see this now.

If you bought it new or used from a GM dealer I'd start there. Call your salesman and let them know what is going on, provide them with a copy of the estimate, etc. A used car sales manager should be able to give you a quote on the loss of value. This will basically be the difference between what the sales price would be pre-loss vs. post loss. Obviously a car w/ no wrecks is going to be worth more than a major one like in your case because people don't want something that has been wrecked. Now days everyone wants a CARFAX report showing nothing. Today i see many trade-ins w/ history going straight to auction b/c dealers do not want to deal with them. If you didn't buy it from a GM dealer you can do the same thing but it may take some convincing.

The other option is to just demand a number. I think 10% is what some insurance companies try to offer but it really a negotiable figure. There are some formulas out there but they are just rule of thumb. There are also some independent appraisers that will come up with a loss of value figure for a fee. You'd have to search the internet for this though. I like the dealer quote because you have solid documentation.

As far as repairs, I would be fine with the LKQ (or overstock) sheet metal but I wouldn't want the reman'ed bumper and A/M headlamps. If all OEM parts are used they will use this as a negotiation tactic to try and reduce the loss of value. The use of that sheet metal gives you a more leverage against this.

Sorry, I should have read this 1st before my last response. Since it was not your fault I was assuming you were going through the other drivers carrier. Most of the time insurance companies say current or 1 year old model year for OEM parts. Either way you still shouldn't have to deal w/ A/M.

As far as the loss of value, you cannot go after your carrier for this. You have to go directly to the claimant's carrier. If they have no insurance you are SOL and better get rid of that thing as soon as you get it back from repairs. Dump it off before the history is reported or you will have to eat it. Even if your carrier says they do not report, many shops are reporting to them so it will probably show up.

I have never heard of a shop reporting a wreck to anyone. Who is reporting and who are they reporting to? I get people in here asking if Im going to report the accident and I tell them shops dont report. As far as I know, Carfax and like others buy the info from the insurance or Austin when you turn in the blue form.

Aftermarket parts on a vehicle with 15k is asinine. You need to speak to a supervisor and move up the ladder. At the very least used oem should be going on. Aftermarket headlights, etc do not fit or hold up like oem, period.
