When we do them on the ranch we'll pick as many of them
Up as we can. This time we really couldn't, farmer didn't want us driving on his fields and it was very wet , you'd spend more time getting trucks unstuck than you would be picking up pigs.

Really I was referring to logistics of saving the meat, since that was what he was talking about. I agree with the sentiment, but it's just unrealistic unfortunately. Sure you can find lots of people who would take a few, but you're not going to find 50 people to clean all of them in a day. I've never killed pigs on that scale, BUT I have killed enough to not be able to harvest all of them. After the experience of trying to load a 450lb pig I shot into the back of a truck with me and 1 other person I've come to respect the amount of time and effort it takes to harvest pigs. However, as much respect as I have for being a responsible hunter, I don't think I would let pigs run free out of a trap. You have to be responsible at maintaining the land, and that includes eliminating pests that do damage to the ecosystem.

Sad but true. We're on the same page, although I would at least ask around if I was in the OP's shoes, so maybe not all of it would go to waste.

            Nice, looks like fun.

The most I do with pigs these days is cut out the backstrap occasionally, but I come from the farming background and shoot at any I see.

I really don't understand what the big deal is regarding leaving them for scavengers. These animals are useless.

Yeah, R-44. That way we can have multiple shooters.
