I can't listen to Rush anymore. A local radio DJ always use to say how Geddy Lee sounds like a billy goat and he would always play Rush instrumentals with goats bleating over it. Now anytime I hear a Rush song, I only hear goats.

I was an absolute Rush fanatic For many, many years. Converted freinds and family, inspired me to start playing drums, even met Geddy and Alex.
Now I can hardly listen to anything post Test For Echo. Vapor Trails sucked bad, there was a glimmer of hope with the instrumentals on Snakes and Arrows, now this latest album simply blows. Extremely hard to play and they have mega-talent but these songs have no melody whatsoever and sounds like they're all just trying to see who can pack in the most noise in each song. From 1974-2000 they were absolutely brilliant. Their concerts are incredible- just wait for a newer song to use the bathroom, buy beer etc.

You two are morons, with all due respect. Clockwork Angels is easily and without a doubt their best album since Counterparts. I argue their best since Grace Under Pressure.
I can't believe anybody purporting to be a Rush fan criticizes Vapor Trails (it was good aside from the recording!), Snakes & Arrows and especially Clockwork Angels over the bland, mediocre and often downright horrible synth era of the 80s. Pull your head out of your anus, guys.
Cobraman gets a break since he's just a kid and doesn't really know any better. How do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?

Dude, Clockwork Angels just might be the final nail in the coffin for me. These latest couple albums may be technically great but are damn near unlistenable. Geddy sounds like he's singing a completely different song from what's being played. Sounds like they were all in separate rooms and not told what the others were doing. It's now a bunch of racket. There's not even a melody anymore. Their "old" stuff was genius, told stories in the lyrics and the music went WITH those lyrics. This band was untouchable for decades with their skill, intellegence and creativity. On paper they may still be great, but what's coming out of the speakers sounds like shit.
Looking forward to their next instrumental.
