Car still has some issues.
It's leaking coolant from the back of the intake, water pump and thermostat. So I fail at that.
Used a thin coat of ultra grey around all the water areas. Used the 1250s3 intakes. So I'll have to redue that.
It's running like a turd, I have an injector hissing and the timing is off or something.
Ran it to 6000rpm, felt slow and when I shifted it back fired. It was stalling when I came to stop signs ect...
Need to figure it out! It shakes te ground at idle. And I like it.

I was under the impression I needed silicone. When I redue it, they'll all be dry. Because f doing this twice!
I torqued the intake to 16ft lbs in correct sequence.

Who knows!

Get a tune, force open loop at idle, play with the timing, AFR, and injector timing. You can get that thing to idle 50% smoother. Good job and good luck.
You seem like a pretty smart guy so make your next purchase a copy of Binary Editor 2012, Moates Quarter Horse, and a laptop. The Guf strategies are free and very complete. There is a ton of tuning info for them out there. Any used laptop will work.
Couldn't agree more. The quarterhorse is awesome and you can do some amazing shit with it.

On paper or composite type gaskets, I use ultrablack around the water ports, on both sides, for thermostat, water pump type paper gaskets I use ultra copper spray unless there is a heavy pitted spot then add some ultra black. I install head gaskets dry unless there's a bulletin or specific instructions to add a spray gasket to them. On o-ring and silicone type seals and gaskets they go on dry unless it's a sharp corner or a dab here and there to hold it in the channel/grooves.
I assume the heads were pressure tested, deck surface checked for straightness or you had them resurfaced. The 3m rotoloc discs I like to uses to clean gasket surfaces helps to ensure a nice clean surface over scrapers and razor blades also.
Oh, and it does sound good, congratulations on getting it going and the hard work. What's the idle set at, sounds a little low and old school for me. I like a nice choppy rhythm @ 900-1100 rpm
