A few years ago a buddy's girlfriend "rescued" a small turtle from the street in front of their house and put it in the backyard. About 2 days after that she decided to mow the lawn and had forgotten about the turtle. She didn't stop crying for a few hours and never mowed the lawn again.

Yes, but will not be cheap. You would have to have an enclosure built and I would want to see it before I would let one go. Just to make sure they are taken care of. All turtles and tortoise rescues are done that way.

We have one that was hit with a lawn mower and lived. His shell is pretty banged up.
