99% of real races between these two will be in a straight line.

i think that bit on the track was pretty good as both cars were in stock trim. but id like to see it again with the mustang having the same tires the camaro has to make it a little more of an acurate comparison since most people doing any serious track time would not be using the stock tires on the mustang im sure.

I think Chevy is giving out ringers in these new 1LE road tests.

Their 426hp SS is now solidly running 12s stone stock? News to me. They've all been slow as shit from everything I've seen in person. Hell, the ZL1s barely run that with 580.

That said, the ZL1 is the first '10+ Camaro that even gets my needle wiggling.

I drove the Mustang I was buying to the Chevy dealer to compare, Camaro was sluggish and did not like how you sat in it. I bought a GT prem for the price of a 1SS, they would no come off the price.

The bow Ties have tried since 1967 to keep up. If they did not have Moptor Trend and NASCAR in their pocket, they would go away. Remember the camaer has gone away several times.

I beg to differ! Chevy is old school still with staying pushrod, But its Fords day since the new 5.0 came out. Just like the LSuans owned the scene back starting 98 & to be honest the LT1 had the Mustang GT Covered stock for stock from 96to 98 & then the LS1 took over & whooped ass all through the late 90s & up through to New Edge body style till ford woke up with a decent motor their flagship motor back from the mid 80s up till 95. The almight 5.0!

But to say Chevy has been trying to keep up since 67 is BS!

are you high? the camaro went away exactly once. Same could be said for the mustang during the mustang II era lol. Only time other than now that the mustang had the performace edge was during the foxbody era, and even then it wasnt even really much of an edge if any.

Chevy has always competed with Ford, it was always a back and forth battle, but the Camaro didn't start really owning the pony car game until they increased displacement. Ford had decreased displacement to 281ci during the 96-10 years with several different versions of the 4.6. Now they are back up to a whopping 5.0L/302ci motor and putting a hurting on chevy and their much larger ci LS engines.

Ford has always been able to do more with less since the mustang came out in 64. Take the ZL1 vs the GT500. GT500 makes way more power on less ci's and doesn't have a gas guzzler tax like the ZL1.

Chevy's answer has always been, lets just make the engine bigger! Bigger is Better!!!! Need more power? Throw a bigger engine in it... And they still can't keep up with Ford on the HP/L vs fuel economy scale...

Not saying the LSx are not good engines, they are. But much like the Mustang needs to get rid of the dinosaur SRA, so does Chevy need to move on from the Dinosaur push rod V8...

camaros displacement was around 350ci from 67 -2002 save for the few big block models offered in the late 60s/early 70s.

the "hurting" is mostly due to the camaro being a pig. Power output is similar. the new 5.0 is a bad ass motor.

more like do about the same with less (until the lt1/ls1 cars came out then the mustangs were toast)

may hats off to ford on this one you are 100% right. GT500 makes about 70 more HP with about 25 less cubic inches. The new gt500 is a fucking HOSS.

I believe LS1 are 346 cubes & Chevy owned the pony war in my era from 93 to 2010, Ford had it from the Foxbodys era till 93 so about 10 years & then chevy had it 17 years & Ford is just now coming with it again in 2011 & having the edge for the past 3 years.

Oh x2 on what Pro88LX said! Camaro still holds its own today with the 5.0, I think now they are actually even matched for once between the two brands. The mustang has the number 1 spot for now cause the new camaros are PIGS
