I'm going to the Newport News SSN-750. I don't want to get spoiled man. Or move to GA. I wouldn't mind, I just don't want to move.

I was part of the Small boat handling party on my last boat and we did some pretty sketchy stuff getting guys onto the boat. But if we ever had to do any of that, we had to be in harnesses and strapped in. We didn't have a 20 ft wide FLAT section to walk around on topside like you guys.

Congrats man. Stay employed. The civilian life sucks after being regimented for so long. It took me years to adapt after getting out the Marines. I think that is why I have such a hard time shaking this contractor thing. It is the medium between shitty pay and the military and awesome pay and the military. lol

If you accidentally fall out of a submarine while it's underway, you deserve not to be found. I think guys on surface ships have those little strobes or something.

Float coats have big reflective striping, a strobe, and a whistle. (also included some dye if I remember correctly)

Just remember not to inflate it until AFTER you hit the water.......

You risk burns. Also some have an inertia switch that controls the inflation

Either it will pop or you will break your neck. They have salt water activated auto-inflators in them now though.

Imagine hitting the water after having to bail off of the flight deck at around 100 ft or so above the surface. (for a carrier)

At that distance you'll build up some velocity....

The resuts when you hit the water will not be pleasant if your float coat is inflated as it will want to stay at the surface and your body will want to keep going with the momentum.

Jump first... hit the water... pull the lanyard.... and you'll pop right back up to the surface.

The dye should deploy automatically, turn on the strobe, use your whistle, wave frantically like a madman and hope like hell someone saw you go over....

You'll get cold quick in the north atlantic....

That's why you stick with submarines! It's a cool 4 ft drop off of a fast boat. You just have to swim like hell to get out of the way of the screw!
