    You need the pen cap with the ridge in it to fit into one of the notches. Then you spin the tape on the pen. Manual rewind.

          Yep. One of my college broadcasting courses was on how to edit/splice tape. Fortunately I got into the game when reel-to-reel 3/4" and 1" tape were on the way out and Beta SP was on its way in.
