Yeah, a good load keeps the turbo lit. If you had a standard trans and just kept the revs up a little while driving empty, it wouldn't be so bad. But factory shifting with a big tune and/or injectors keeps you under the turbo. A tight converter doesn't help eitherOriginally posted by Baron View PostComment

My F250 with exhaust, EGR delete, and street tune has never blown black smoke, no matter how I drive it. That's fine by me, but what makes some do it and others not?Comment

We had a 12v manual a few weeks ago, that thing would black smoke like crazy. Ive never seen a diesel black smoke so easily and so much. It was annoying as shit, but the new owner thought it was the coolest thing in the worldComment

I hate the ass hats blowing clouds just to blow clouds. Had a 740iL once with a bad PCV so it blew oil into the intake under hard acceleration. Had an ass hat in a Dodge purpously smoke me out at two lights and laugh about it. At the third light I got on it just enough to get in front of him then nailed it. Left an oil burn cloud so thick that all three lanes on Waco Dr were invisible in my rearview mirror. LOL
I just dont get the smoke facination. I am no oil burner specialist but have done full exhaust and intake upgrades with tunes on more than a dozen customers trucks and not a one blew smoke even when really loading up the turbo.Good judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.Comment

If someone pisses me off in traffic, ill lock the converter and power brake while driving in front of them just enough to keep from downshifting. Gets people off your ass pretty quickly.
