He's a big techie/electronics guy and the '13 Genesis has some new features that weren't on his 2010. It's a NICE ride. I don't think there is a better sedan out there on the market for anywhere close to the $40k street price.

I drove it for a few minutes yesterday. Strong, smooth power from the 5.0 and the 8-speed auto shifts almost seamlessly in the background. Suspension is on the firm side, interior is nicely done, exterior looks great.

I'm glad I steered him to the V8 model Genesis a few years ago. He's hooked on the smooth, effortless power now.
Good to hear a real-world review instead of people saying, "It's a Hyundai, there's no way it's not shit."

I heard there were plans to put this 5.0 in the coupe. Well what the fuck are they waiting on?

My Dad has owned three Hyundai's in the last 5 years and they've all been great. He doesn't expect the '13 to be any different. I'm a huge car nut and I steered him to the Genesis in the first place. He hasn't been disappointed.

I talked to a local guy who dropped an LSx engine into his Genesis Coupe when he blew up the stock turbo 2.0L motor. I didn't understand the specifics, but apparently the computer for the V8 that works for the sedan does not work AT ALL for the coupe. This guy said Millen tried to shoehorn the V8 into the Coupe and couldn't get the computers to talk and apparently even a few Hyundai engineers flew out to help. It just didn't work at all.

Again, that is what I was told by this local guy. Sounds weird and I'm surprised Hyundai couldn't (or maybe wouldn't?) overcome this technical obstacle, but for whatever reason they haven't.

A stout 6-speed manual strapped to the 429hp 5.0 engine in the Coupe for around $40k would be a sweet alternative to the Mustang GT and Camaro SS.

Yeah I figure $40k loaded out. Not sure if it was the same guy. First and last time I talked to him.

I talked to him out at Cars and Coffee. Swap was slick as hell. Used all Camaro engine harness, clutch and transmission. He said it was simple, almost like the F-body parts are designed to work in the Hyundai chassis. Car still had a/c. He said that it would take about two days of work to do it again.

No, the car was white. Looked all stock, except lowered on coilovers and with a great sounding, subtle exhaust.

Yep, that's the guy. The swap did look very clean and the car looked clean too with a nice subtle exhaust. Of course, it still sounded sweet when he started it because you were hearing a sound that shouldn't be coming out of a Hyundai.

Actually, I have seen these cars with an MSRP of $45,000 of course purchase price was probably closer to $40,000

Make no mistake, I would drive the hell out of one of these cars!

Look at new car prices. V8, RWD, 8 speed auto, nice leather, full infotainment; not the unreasonable regardless of the class. But it's also positioned as a cut-rate 7 Series/A8/S Class, for the guy who has that kind of money but is too jewish to spend it on something that depreciates as poorly as a car does. For its intended purpose I'd say it's actually an oddly good value.
