  • Going to the darkside a little...

Well I got a call from a very good family friend last week, he has a '69 Corvette that has been sitting in his garage for the past 10 years he wants me to have. His son is not really interested in it, and it needs a little work to get back on the road, so he wants to pass it on to me. Pretty excited about it, went yesterday to check it out and took a few pics. Has a sbc 400 that has been nicely built with dart heads, cam etc, has a nicely built th400 trans, interior is in really good shape save for the seats, it just needs a little tlc to the exterior. He took it to a guy to get the rear brakes fixed, the guy decided to drive it a few days before working on it, and the right rear caliper started to lock up, thus killing the caliper, rotor, bearings and i hope thats all. i have to put it back together so i can load it up, but hoping to bring it hope in a week or 2.

Here she in in her glory days.

    What is looks like now..

Shaved headlights and fender vents? Oh wait... that's OEM shit from the 60's lolol.

Sweet deal, good for you. I hope to see some progress soon? And maybe a pic of that ass.

Im not really a chevy guy, but the chrome bumper'ed vettes are pretty damned cool. My stepdad had several back in the day. His family owned a gas station during the fuel crisis and people were dumping off hotrods like crazy, and cheap. He had a 57 bel air, stingray convertable, 69 454 vette, 68 vette, 69 Charger 440, and a couple others.

I had no idea he was a hot rodder in the 70's, but we started talking about it and he pulled out some photo albums and showed off the toys.

haha yeah, ill get a few better pics once I get it home and a bath. Its been sitting for years and it very dirty, hoping it cleans up pretty good. If funds allow, im hoping to have it back solidly on the road by mid-end of spring. Right now im focusing on swapping an ls into my truck. have a few things yet to buy for it.

You just got handed a badass Corvette and somehow an LS swap into a truck is still on the radar? I think I'm gonna puke.

Great car. One of GM's finest offerings of all time. Congradulations!

Yes, i need a reliable truck to haul stuff around with. The little 305 thats in it now, although it runs great, just doesnt do it.. haha Also i want to build a 408 for the mustang, so i need to juggle my money around. I want to finish the truck first, since Im 80% there.

Not sure about the soft top, from what i could tell the hard top is in great shape save for the weather stripping.

you can get the weatherstripping. Id rather have the hard top be in tact than the soft top. you can put a soft top on it pretty cheap. Id just roll the hard top though

Thats the plan, I like the looks of the line on the hard top.

Pretty sweet. They are a lot of fun and get plenty of attention. This 71 has been in my garage for the last 8 months. Fun to drive when it's nice out.
