"It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself."
Stay tuned for the video of some guy cut in half trying to gauge speed on an invisible glider.
LOL, there is big debate in the dynamic soaring community about safer ways to gauge speed. those wings are made of carbon fiber, and they are now nearing 500mph. Shits getting to be the Russian roulette of RC.
I fly pylon and hotliners. I have seen 250 power off level out of a 2000 foot dive. I can not even imagine 400! Yes the plane must remain in sight because it is controlled by either FM or 2.4 gig Spectrum transmitters. There is 5.8 out but I have never seen one used. Most these days are using the 2.4 Spectrum. FM is older and there is a chance of cross use of the same frequency that would cause loss of control of 1 or both planes in the air at the same time. 2.4 "binds" to 1 specific plane.
My Sokol pylon is 28" wingspan and is crazy fast. Even after years of flying, I sometimes loose orientation with the plane while it is up in the air.
