  • My new ride, bought Kyle's Ex-DPS Coupe

I've been looking for a clean 4 Eye coupe for quite a while, with no luck, so I did the next best thing and bought Kyles '87 Ex DPS car with the 4 Eye conversion. The paint on this thing is really nice, a bit darker than DSG, but shines very nice. 235 and 225's on near mint 10 holes, and an original Sand Beige interior that is amazingly clean for being an ex cop car. Decent shifting T5 and 3.73's in the rear. She needs some small detail items and some wiring clean up under the hood, but other than that, a nice running, very clean car. And I know, it looks slow, still a bone stock Speed Density car, it is slow.

Did a little research on SpecialServiceMustangs.net and got a little history on the car, it was part of multiple car order by the State in late '86. Still waiting to see where she pulled duty at.

I made Kyle a good deal on the Capri, hopefully he'll take me up on it and come get her this week. I need some room in the garage.

Here's a few more shots showing the interior - (already have an ashtray lid on the way)

And the side trim, I have all the pieces ready to go on. Put the bolt on pieces on yesterday, waiting for it to warm up before I do the tape on pieces.

And inside the trunk. All the holes for the equipment mounting are still there, as are the giant ground straps on the hinges.

I painted that car about 4 years ago for Kyle. Glad it's still looking good. And by the way it's a shade lighter than dsg

Does yours have a fuel cutoff switch in the backseat on the drivers-side between the seat cushion and the side trim?

              Mine did...

You did a great job! It has a few very small hail dents in it now, but PDR should take care of them. I'm debating on doing a full blown resto back to cop car status on it right now, or maybe just redoing the Aero front end. I know who to bring it to for paint now.

An aero front end? For shame, sir!

Really only considering that if I do a cop car restoration. I've been looking at the prices of just the radios though, and that could get very expensive, very fast. Cheaper to keep her 4 eyes and do the MAF conversion and the turbo.

Yeah leave it a 4eye. I would lower it, change wheels and drive it as a cruiser. I like the 10 holes but always go with be widest wheel/tire combo I can fit. It would be ridiculous with some pony r's lowered.

I'm already looking at the Pony R's but to get them, I either wait until the company decides to build some new ones, or convert to 5 lug so I can buy from American Muscle. I'd like to do a at least a 275 in the back, maybe a 315. Onjacks car looks sick with that combo on the back.

I just took off the front 50 resto 5 lug conversion on my hatch and went to the 94/95 setup so I can fit the wheels I already have. The rotors need to be cleaned up since they were sitting for so long, but they were only on for about 50 miles of driving before I parked the car for 4 years, let me know if you want them. I am running 315's on my car and there is not much spare room, but I love the way it looks and sits.

I have their cheap kit on my Capri. I'd love to do their version of the 2300K kit, but $2500 for a 5 lug kit? Yeah, it's Cobra brakes all the way around, but damn!
