Any RC Folks?

I bought a beat-to-shit Slash this weekend that has a Novak brushless system in it. Even though every bearing and both axleshafts in it is wore to hell, it still scoots pretty good on 3s. I stuck the lowest pinion/largest spur gear I had in it, and have been running 5" tall rock crawler wheels/tires on it, it is just too much fun. I have a shit-load of parts coming in the mail so I'll probably go back to normal wheels/tires when they get here, but I want to set it up for running flat-out across the cow pasture.

This weekend I went to a buddy's farm and we bashed T Maxx trucks all day, ran about a gallon of fuel out between us. It was awesome except for the cowshit in the field, cleaning the cowshit off of them won't be fun. The broken parts tally for the day were three shocks, two missing springs, two bent toe/steering turnbuckles and a body completely trashed. I wished I would have got some video of them flying ten feet off the ground and for around 40" off the dirt ramps, and running wide open for 100 yards at a time. Fun times.

i have a losi ten stce with a orion10r esc and tekin pro 4600 motor. and on 3 cells its a bad bitch. i went to mikes for a while till they screwed me over
now i go to sherman or speedmonkey in irving.


so when are we having a DFWMS R/C GTG?

I just ordered replacement parts yesterday to fix the broken steering knuckle carrier and steering knuckle on my Exo.

Also test fitted some Traxxas 2.8" wheels, like used on the Stampede and Jato. They fit and have no clearance issues with suspension arms or steering components. So I ordered 4 wheels and some Badlands tires for when I'm out bashing. Gives a little bit wider wheel and tire than the normal Short Course style wheels it was designed to use.

well i bought the orion 10r pro speed control there. had it put in and right out of the box it was bad. well they said i had to send it back to horizon myself.
i just bought the damn thing and they wouldnt swap it out. and i have spent over $1300 in there with in the last 3 weeks. i think i can find a beter place to spead my money.

I'd they put it in and it was immediately bad, that is bad buisness.

Sucks that they wouldn't swap it out, but a lot of MFG's limit the warranty to the purchaser only. An argument could be made that Mike's already purchased it, but like a lot of retail stores, they probably don't pay the MFG's until they sell the products. Kinda like having a wholesale line with the MFG. Therefore, they may not be able to return it to the MFG for repair/replacement.

ya and the manager said i keeped changing my story on how long i ran it. when i asked how i was changing it. he said he was just playing. by then i was pissed and had to get out of there before i realy went off the handle.

lol, that's why I took some shots before it ever saw any action. What are you powering yours with? I'm just running a spare Velineon motor and ESC. I know a lot of people use wheels that go on Losi SCTE. I haven't thought about going to 2.8 though. I'd like to what that looks like.

I've heard good things about Speedmonkey. I want to check it out next time I'm up there.

I went to Mikes in October during Goodguys. I was blown away by the tracks, but very disappointed in the inventory and the "customer service". Looks like it's for more of the flying side of the hobby. They only had basic parts cars and trucks. I figure it's enough for them to make a few bucks on race night when someone breaks something and needs to replace it right then.

I was shooting some trucks in San Antonio in January and went to RC Headquarters. Best place I've been to so far. Great inventory, customer service and a nice track next door.

I went with Novak for my powerplant. Novak Ballistic 550 4.5turn sensor based motor and Novak Havoc Pro SC ESC. Running 4000mah 2S Lipo's...
Also upgraded to Pro-Line Power Stroke shocks.

I will post up some pics once I get the wheels/tires in.
