Neither of those stories are El Camino specific. It is just a coincidence that they both happened to be similar model vehicles. You could have just as easily done that with a honda accord.
Went to TIGHTEN it and as I reached out the cap popped off. Even cut my finger as it flew past. Got nailed full force in the arm and ran backwards as the coolant flowed stronger and kinda chased me across the shop floor. Burned my ears and forehead too.
Found out the reason why was someone decided to put the wrong cap on the radiator and it never could tighten down.

I keep getting injured or screwed by other mechanics incompetence and it really is starting to piss me off.

So yes, my bad for taking it out on the ElCaminos. I now just hate them cause they suck.

Thats what I kept saying. People kept going "Oh! Thats a third degree burn and you need to go to the hospital blah blah blah." Didnt have time, had cars to work on and lots of Advil so was all good. I was just glad when the damn thing stopped making puss and sticking to shit. Arm looked like this for a couple weeks. All the dark spots are where the skin was flash steamed off almost instantly. Looked really nasty an hour after it happened. LOL

One I was working on and while chaging the AC I saw the rad cap was moving so as I reached out to tighten it I got hosed down in 240* coolant and recieved 3rd degree burns all down my arm.
The next one I overhauled the brakes. Told the guy I didnt want to touch it cause of the 1.5" wheel spacers that were not hub centric and not for that car. I explained someone had even used WAY too much torque installing them and I believed they were unsafe to reinstall. Hate spacers anyway. He insisted it was ok and against my better judgement I went ahead and removed them to do the job. Did it all by the book and he got a mile up the road and the spacer pulled itself off the rotor. Now I have a POS $700 ElCamino in my shop that I just had to buy a new door, fender and trim for and is out at paint now.
He knows its not my fault, my parts suppkier inspected and agreed and two guys from other shops also say the spacers were wrong and defective but in the interest of customer relations I have to eat the $1200 repair for a $320 job.

Never again will I do brake/wheel work on a car with spacers. Sure there are some good $500 ones out there but his $40 POS ones are useless.
