Man, these are the weirdest engines I have seen in a long time. The first one I have ever seen was just last year. (Yeah, I don't get out much.)

That's the weak sister engine. There was a 140 horse 4 carb engine and 180 horse turbo. As far as unsafe, I had the 140 horse Corsa, and the car handled fine. Yes, a little light on the front end, but I never had a problem with it. Great car in the snow for sure!

There is one in the trade section of craigs with a V8. It looks pretty well set up.

They're air cooled, so if you overheat them, that's it, your rings were fucked. Also, they're a boxer engine, so again, ring wear = bad. They're still cool as fuck, though, and I've always wanted a corvair van with a modern 911 Carrera/4S powertrain. One day...
