He probably was very wrong in what he did. But if he did have to kill it, and be man enough to tell the owners what happened, then the spraying off of all the blood would have been to prevent the owners, and possibly children, from running into a gruesome scene. This is just a what if scenario if the cop was cool and justified. But he probably wasn't.

What's real interesting about this video is the conveniently omitted details behind the full story. The owner as I understand has not filed a formal complaint against the PD. He has made excuses, but nothing that really makes any sense in context of the situation. He's using the media and public opinion to try the officer for him. He also has only provided select portions of the video to the local news outlet/social media. He won't release the full video. Or hasn't as of yet. There is also footage from a convenience store across the street where the dog actually was prior to what is seen in this video. He was loose across the street reportedly attacking other dogs. Several witnesses supported that portion of the cop's story as well. When the cop initially showed on scene, the dog was at the convenience store, not at the house. The city also has a strict leash law for dogs.

Not saying this is acceptable, but you're getting one side of the story. And dog owner who took this video is also sketchy. He's one of those guys that get constant "threats" from other people, so he installed a home surveillance system.

My take is to simply exercise common sense. If you have a dog(breed) that can be deemed dangerous, put a locking mechanism on his kennel while you're away. Not just close the gate and pull down that cheesy little latch that doesn't work. If that's even what really happened.

the video didnt bother me much im not really a dog lover but it was wrong. the dog isnt even off the mans property. The cop felt threatened by the dog so he killed it to show it who was boss! typical power tripping ass cop with a gun shooting at will.

I don't agree with the shooting. However, there is a lot more to this story than the select video clips he chose to submit. Let me be the devil's advocate. Why all the shady details? He initially failed mention the dog being across street. There were witnesses to the dogs aggressive behavior. Why won't he file a complaint. Why did he refuse to turn over the entire video to news. They requested, no dice. Also, the cop reported shooting to Animal Control as well. The owner will tell you that cop did nothing but blast the dog and leave. In his report., the reason for the cleanup was to not have owners come home to a bloodbath.

Don't shoot the messenger.

Parting note; I think why you won't ever see full video, is because owner lied about latching the kennel before they left. Or that it was not working properly which puts this story right square in his lap.

Right. Because if the officer didn't want the family come home to a bloodbath, it was impossible not to shoot the dog multiple times instead of calling animal control and have it taken to a pound where it would be held until the family came and got it. No, odds are the cop didn't see the cameras and got his gun off and then hosed things down so he could come up with his own story later.
