  • Why you don't over load small aircraft

They are lucky as hell. It seemed evident from takeoff they were way too heavy.

What a fucking idiot. He had every opportunity to abort that takeoff, or put it back down in a field. But he chose to keep going. Thats how ppl get killed; one bad decision after another... its called aeronautical decision making, and that pilot had NONE.

Love the sounds of people trying to pull in air after getting the wind knocked out.

I bet the immediate moment of "wtf happened and am I alive...I just survived a plane crash..bigger dick mine get cannot emm hmmm" is somewhat surreal.

Pilot was non union and was forced by his employer to fly.

"Due to warming temperatures we had a hard time gaining altitude. After taking off we
hit an air pocket that made us rapidly loose altitude, pushing us down
              into the trees."

Bullshit. That plane was overloaded and that pilot should have known better.

Without questions that plane was overloaded, you can see it struggle on the runway, he even failed to take off and came back down to bounce up again.

Nah, it was an unskilled scab that paid by the pilot's union to cause an accident.

Seeing as you are all pilots and know it all. Lol
high elevation and higher temps mean longer ground run hence the long as grass runway. Its a mofo when it's not and high elevation and heavy.Poor decision making was rather evident though

Regardless, that ground run was WAAAY too long. He still has plenty of time to abort the takeoff. A single engine pkane doesnt need 5, 000ft of runway no matter what the DA is. If its not off in 2, 000FT max, it usually isnt going to get any better!

If someone as dumb as us can determine it's dangerous how does that speak for the pilot who crashed his plane and nearly killed everyone in it? I understand the sentiment, but you don't need a racing license to know if someone entered a turn too fast.

Not paying attention to density altitude can kill you with a quickness. Even commercial jets are not immune to this; my buddy told me that he hated flying out of Mexico City for this very reason.

The Air Force pilots were very picky about how much we brought on the planes leaving Bagram. The airfield was at 5000' and they had to clear 16,000' mountains all around us to get out of the bowl. Once they picked the wheels up, they went as vertical as they could. It would suck to be overloaded and splat on those mountainsides!
