how much fishing time was that 36 hours?
Don't worry about what you can't change.
Do the best you can with what you have.
Be honest, even if it hurts.

The boat had damn good seas and nobody that I saw got sick. It leaves out of Galveston.

I think we had a good 18-20 hours fishing.

Remember, to get to the good fishing, you need to get out there because the smaller boats can fish closer in.

How many pounds of fish are you bringing home, and what was the cost again if i missed it.

It looks like its worth it. I bet you give a bunch of it away. I always find that i give away half of the fish i catch because i cant eat it all. I only eat about 100 pounds a fish a year.

350 bucks is very fair for that trip, if I lose my offshore ride I may have to hop on one. Is over hand casting allowed for yellowfin? Haven't been offshore in a month need to get my fix soon. Where did you fish, Nancen and boomvang?

I do plan on taking a trip such as this...mainly due to all the teasing pictures that OP is always posting!
            Makes me hungry!!

Do they leave the fish hanging out in the warm air like that? I prefer getting them on ice ASAP! Makes for much better quality.

The boats puts them on ice as soon as you catch them, and they are only hung for pics, then back in the ice. I haven't gone on this trip, but have done many similar trips out of Port A.

In most states its illegal to sell. You have to give it away.

You are lucky to get half of the weight of the fish in meat. On my 15lb tuna, I got about 5-6 lbs. We break it down into meal servings and vacuum pack it. I have a chest freezer in the garage. It doesn't go to waste.

No overhead casting, which sucks, but it's safer that way. We went to Boomvang. Here's a complete report:

It stores nicely in the freezer!

They bleed and gut the tuna, and just put the other fish on ice. They hang the fish like that for docking, so it isn't out that long.

It's less than $10/hour. How can you beat that?

The first one I took I caught a 25lb yellowfin that was sushi grade.

I got about 12 lbs of meat off of that fish, and if I were to have had to buy that, it runs $16 for a 4 oz serving at a restaurant.

                        That fish was worth $768.

I definitely regret missing the trip, but I got my car, so that makes it somewhat better. Some nice fish, and a much better report than I'm used to hearing from our usual boat. I have to try to catch the next one, or maybe that 56 hr on the Scat Cat.
