  • My Gas Pump Project

As if the car wasnt enough of a project, I picked up this old gas pump to tinker with. I believe its a 1949 Southwest pump company Mobilgas Special.
It has the info plate on it, but information on the internet is limited. Inside the pump is about 80% there, but I think at this time its going to be more of an aesthetic restoration. I think i got it pretty cheap after looking around.

and after a little WD40 rubdown

Haha well you know how it goes, plus I sold my f150 and paid cash for the 95 chevy, dropped my insurance to $55/month, cancelled cable (netflix FTW), and paid off some cards.

"Hmm 8k is a little bit more than what I was expecting, but to see it good as new again that would be great."

Why quote the whole post to say that?

This might be harder than I thought. Not only is info hard to come by, so is parts.

Not trying to crash our thread. I spy a QT-50 in the background, I was given an 84 model at age 10. It's yellow, had it for going on 22 years now and still get a smile from riding it. My mom, dad, all sisters, and grandmother (once and only once, very scary to watch) have ridden it, along with friends. Got bored about 4 or 5 years ago, so it got a 60cc kit, pw50 flat trackers pipe, reeds, carb work, oil injection delete. It's still a gutless little turd outa the hole, but once the clutch locks in it's pretty peppy for what it is. I need a pw50 to motor swap with and teach my nephew on.

And cool gas pump. My boss and his family have been in the fuel business most of his life. Got a bunch of old pumps laying around, but none old enough to be worth much more than scrap weight.

Looks great! I wouldn't do anything else to it once you get the hose on it.
