They were particularly unreliable when new, and that's not going to get better with the kind of mileage a $15k example is going to have. And that SMG gearbox can go fuck itself.

What do you guys really know about the box minus what you've read. They're really not that bad. the pump goes out is one of the huge problems. saying the gearbox is terrible is saying the 6 speed is terrible. Its the same transmission ....

I just hate those automated manual transmissions. I haven't had any experience with reliability issues, just don't like driving them with the SMG.

Yah, ill second that one. I honestly think the e46 m3 is a very bland looking car but they can be fun to drive.

bland looking car? fuck you. i think they're great looking cars. underpowered, yes. but they looked sweet, especially back in the early 2000s. I've seen a bunch of dudes on sportbikes do exactly what that kid did. just wasnt anticipating the turn, and locked up with target fixation.

Dude , I've had more m series cars than I care to think about. Its a very bland m car in almost every aspect
