Don't get him started on "kobe" beef used in hamburgers. It basically doesn't exist.

Yep. At best, he had wagyu. But it was likely a brisket/top sirloin mix. Kobe exists. Just not outside of Japan.

        Wagyu sounds fukking nasty!

So Kobe Steakhouse in Addison is just a ruse?

I do like the steak/shrimp/scallops meal....

Well, yes. The entire Kobe beef thing is a marketing ploy, really. When you see Kobe advertised on a menu, it's not real Kobe. Chances are it's wagyu. But there are no restrictions on advertising it that way. I could serve up USDA standard and call it Kobe all day, and sell it at a 500% markup if I wanted to.

It is impossible to say exactly what you are getting in your "Kobe" slider, or $100 Faux-be strip, but one thing is certain - it is not Japanese Kobe beef. For the past two years, it has not been any kind of Japanese beef at all.

That was what I was getting at, since the old Montgomery Ward building isn't in Japan.

You want an actually good burger (not a fast food greasy mess disguised as a gourmet burger) go to St Pete's or Chop House.

5 guys is better than burger king or mcdonalds or in and out but thats about it.

If you give him a better burger, I don't want to be around to see his reaction.

Anybody ever had Herd's Burgers in Jacksboro? We stopped there one time on the way to a TCCRA race and holy crap was it good! They are only open until they run out of beef then close up for the day.

Any burger place that has a drive-thru window cannot be that good. This is a pretty good theory about all food joints.
