I would drive out there with a date, uncork my headers and race my chevy truck, bolt em back on, collect my trophy and go home. I too was there the last day and still my entrance tickets. I have a bunch of pictures that i will try to dig out sometime. Lot's of great memories there for sure. After I married my wife, we found out that I had raced her Dad there, lol.
Now back to the original picture, it is on the cover of one of the year end programs I have from there listing all the standings, etc.Shooting for 1000 posts in 15, well make that 20 years.

My dad took me there a few times back in the day. I remember cars with jet engines or somesuch in the back of them. It was so cool to see and on a cool night, those cars warming up, could warm up the stands a bit.Comment

funny that in all these pics i never saw big bill holmans startrek vega or his wiley coyote buick. he was a regular there from the 50's thru the late 80's .Comment
