You should post that fish on the Southwest Outdoor report website. I'm not sure if they are still giving prizes but if they do sometimes it is worth it.
I did a shoot on El Salto lake in Mexico for a week with the host hoping to catch a 10lb + but all we caught were little 2 and 3 pounders. Nice fish!

How deep of water did you catch it in?? If it kept going belly up on you it problay needed to be "Fizzed" It happens when a fish gets gas built up in the swim bladder and needs to have it released. It's a common thing this time of year.. BTW nice fish

Do you still get the meat when you take one to the taxidermy or how does that work with fish?

i think you actually just send a pic and the measurements and they make it.....dont think they actually use the fish. I may be wrong though.

Well we talked about fizzin her, but she came out of no more than 6 ft of water. I think she was just wore out from the fight and was a lazy hog and gave up. Sucks but oh we'll.

Well if you have a chance to release them you can just take some good pics, get weight and measurements and most good taxidermists can make a fish identical to the fish you caught. In my case they are using the actual fish.

Me and 5 other guys tried to get some oxygen in her, she would swim about 15 ft then just belly up. I was SO torn. I'm 100% catch and release. I wanted someone else to catch her in the spring when she was 13lbs but she would never go. I didn't want some joker coming and catching her in their cast nets since there were a few folks waiting for us to leave with nets in hand. So I just brought her with me and I'm going to the taxidermy in the morn. Believe me I was upset I couldn't let her go.
I did this once... they (Cabela's) told me it was because I broke the jaw when i lipped it. A common mistake they tell me. They said grab it from the bottom by the gills and tail.
