Nice truck but if I was gonna daily it I would need air too. LOL. I woulod also throw a 700R4 or a Gearvenders overdrive in it. Poor motor must be at 3200 rpm at highway speeds.

I was at 2500 rpm at 70 mph. Not sure of the gears in it though.

I think that the speedo might be a tad fast, but not much. So if I had to guess I'd say between 14 and 16 mpg which IMO isn't too bad.

I got to work today and saw that there was oil on the side of the bed behind of the wheel. So after some investigating I found that the passenger side axle seal was shot. So 20 bucks and 2 hours worth of work in this hot ass sun it's good to go. Those 12 bolts are pretty damn easy to work on.

And as if I haven't said it enough, I NEED AIR, lol.

Oh, and is the cam really a tiny one? I'd kind of like to do a small cam just for the sound really. Do you have any videos of yours if it is mild?

16mpg is damn good.

Best I ever got out of my 71 C20 Cheyenne with the 350, Th350, 3.73 combo was 11. The current 383, 700r4 and 3.73's gets a hair over 14mpg.

It was feeling lonely so I pulled it out last week and ran it around a bit.

I'd recommend looking into the mid-late '70s rubber bushing lowers, they make a ton of difference in ride quality and road noise.

You guys are making me feel good about this truck, and also making me not want to fuck with the engine. I'd like to put a small cam in it, but really don't want to sacrifice MPG.

I can't imagine it being much better, lol. I braced for the first big bump that I hit like I normally would have in my F-250 with load leveling bags in the rear and it went over it like a cadillac! That's probably what I'm most impressed with of the truck.

I just ordered the stereo and a lot of other little things. LMC shipping for just the radio was like 33 bucks, and add 18 more items, and shipping just went up to 35 bucks. So I guess that you kind of have to order a lot of stuff to make the shipping worth it.

Classic Parts of America has good prices on their stuff, and the quality seems to be pretty good. I bought a bunch of stuff from them when I was building the '66 and never had a single problem with the items, or shipping.

I think i do have a vid. Buts has such a small lift and duration on it, you really cant tell tell unless the motor is cold. You can hear it a lil when its warmed up.

This was couple years ago when i took this. But only thing changed from then is 2.73 gears. It deff needs new valve seals. Its smokes pretty bad. lol

That sounds good. Do you know what RPM that's at? I bet it sound even better with a little less RPM. What cam is that? Any valve train upgrades needed for that cam?

Shit man, All i know is its a summit cam. lol. With like a 442 lift. So its a small cam. I have the idle sat around 700-800rpm. When its in gear its at like 500rpm. Ill try and find the cam for ya. And no valve train upgrades needed as small as this one was.

I daily drive my 82 coupe without ac! Its doable trust me! Luckily this year has been mild compared to previous years. But AC is a must..
