I think it would be cool to live back in the day like that... seems shit was so much more simple.

Don't kid yourself. Talk to people who were alive then. It may have been simple but it was no picnic.

Yea I don't doubt that... Just seems like now days, kids have to have cell phones, tv, computers, mp3 players, etc. to be entertained and happy.

Same for me, hell I'd be miserable w/o those things.

But back then, a baseball and a mitt = hours of entertainment. Kids spent their free time outside playing... working at a young age having to EARN the things they want. Now they just expect it.

Now most of America is just a bunch of lazy fat asses looking for the easiest way to accomplish every day tasks so they can spend more time in front of the TV.

It's kinda sad really. I dunno, just seems like it'd be kinda cool to see what it was like, then maybe we'd all realize how much we truly take for granted.

I agree with you.. Shit I did not grow up with a cell phone. Got my first pager out of high school when I landed my first job. I thought it was the tits back then. I drop my kids off to school most mornings and see 9 and 10 year old with Iphones, and Evos?? Shit I didnt get my first cell phone up until about 8 years ago.

My First home had a dishwasher but I never use it.. my kids wash dishes by hand. lol I remember as a kid going to my grandmothers house and she had the washer with the rollers up top to run your clothes through after the wash.

lmao she used to beat my ass everytime I tried to run my toys through it.
          And Shepherds we shall be

For thee, my Lord, for thee.

Power hath descended forth from Thy hand

Our feet may swiftly carry out Thy commands.

So we shall flow a river forth to Thee

And teeming with souls shall it ever be.

I'm not old at all (26) and didn't have a cell phone until I could pay for it, after I graduated highschool. Now 10 year olds are running around with iPhones. At family G2G's it was me and my cousins playing football until it was time to eat, or getting random things to use as bases for a little baseball action. Now all the kids want to do at family functions is play xbox or wii. Fuck all the old cooking ways. I think all of that is for the better. The social interaction of todays youth has gone to shit for the most part though.

The phrase "It's like riding a bike" will soon be replaced with "It's like using an iPhone".

I think it all goes hand in hand... we have revolutionized the way of cooking... much faster now, but also much more toxic. There are all kinds of chemicals and shit in the foods we eat now days that didn't used to exist in the 30's. Which means foods can be canned, frozen, stored etc much longer and prepared much faster. Which gives time for ppl to do what? Sit on their ass and play video games!

Kids now days dont know shit. They know how to push buttons on a microwave, and eat. When they grow up, they will do just that. And WTSHTF, they will be so fucked cause all they know how to do is fucking pair bluetooth devices.

I dunno why Im ranting here, its not like it will ever change. Just sucks as it appears society as a whole is slowly declining in character as we migrate to a life online.

My grandfather has a garden and a few cows, and you would not believe the difference in a steak that has came from a slaughter house and one you would get from the grocery store. Hell they even fuck up corn.

You're lucky if you can find a woman that knows what to do in the kitchen. I can't stand a chick that can't cook! That means they are only good for one thing.

If you look at the old school pictures, a lot of times people just were not smiling. Noticed old TX pictures tend to have a few more smilies then pictures I've seen from the NE (old family picutres, museums...etc). Maybe TX folks just partied or ate better.

Either way, it was a simpler time but I suspect it was a much harder time. Mean, it was simple...feed the family and have a place to stay. Harder since it was a real bitch to get that done and medicine was way behind...etc.

Oh ya, I don't know how many times the wife was washing dishes or something and I've popped wood. Just seems natural to me.
