From the sounds of it, you think you already know the value of the car, so why post a thread asking? Unless by "Trying to figure out the value of this 1965 mustang fastback 289 3spd A-code" you meant "This is a SOLID BARG thread".

I'd expect 10k and probably start at 12 and see what happens. Very cool car.

The rust is the only thing that is going to kill you. It's a bitch to fix, it gets expensive quick, and no one wants to deal with it. Lack of air conditioning, and disc brakes might not help your cause either.

Still, I say 8-10K if the cowl isn't rusted out and $6-8K if it is.

I would love to believe you, but there's more going on there than what you can see through the vents. I can count on one hand the number of original unrestored cars I've run into that didn't have rusty cowls. Dump a bucket of water in it and see what happens.

Don't get me wrong, I hope it's solid as a rock, but with rusty door corners and quarters, the odds are not good. Cool car, even if it does leak.

Been there. A few times. The drain holes plug up and you're in deep doodoo.

There's an easy fix. Garage it and don't drive in the rain.

Nah, even easier, there is a magnetic cover that goes over the vent. It's what I used on my cougar.

Here's an interesting resource. Prices seem to be all over the place, but it's useful since the photography and descriptions are generally good, and it shows the sold price.
