I'd bet patterns in mobile phone data usage could reliably indicate when someone is using it on the crapper.

My guess is you judge every peace officer based on a few bad experiences and and a bunch of news stories. What percentage of officers do you think are involved in those negative incidents compared to those that are not? I have had numerous bad experiences with mechanics in my life so I should label them all scum right? Forget about the ones who actually helped me out and fixed my issues. What about attorneys? They are all scum until you need one on your side right? The ones that screw you create the label for the entire group.

I never said anything about condoning the behavior of what happened to the preacher at a checkpoint. The Border Patrol agent deserves as much punishment as possible. By agreeing to stop and answer a simple question I in no way shape or form condone that behavior. You can actually have one without the other. In the few hundred times I have went through those checkpoints I have never had an issue. Have I had a few rude agents on a power trip? Of course but the other 195 times they were quick and polite. So by my experience they should all be labeled scum correct?

TSA is a complete waste of time as well.
It was in response to the "Have you been to the airport lately." It's a dog and pony show and a complete waste of time. During those walks, I've talked to the supervisors who have admitted it's useless and several have actually been shocked as I explained how I'd attack the airport were I them.

God, its so sad to see that some people believe the government knows what's good for them and trust them. "But he's an officer of the law, sworn to protection and serve". Bullshit!!! Your rights are being violated and your freedom is being overtaken. "Land of the free" is loosing its meaning. People need to open up their eyes and take back what has been taken.

Makes sense - it came off differently to me at first.

Entertaining though now. It's not really surprising that the management/etc thinks it is a waste of time too. From their perspective, they are earning a check, doing a job. At least, that's what you'd expect. We see differently at the gates sometimes though.

Well, most of these admins are ex military. When they know you're one of them they open up. I sat at DFW and the admin bought my wife and I a Coke as I went over exactly how I'd attack DFW and shut down the country. He agreed with me and nothing they do actually does anything but look good and gets more and more tax dollars

Its not intended to do anything, its a big show to get people used to being treated like cattle and having there rights trampled on. I bet tsa only gets worse and even more intrusive as the years go on.

One of the things that pisses me off is the absence of data.

We the people that elect leaders into office should be informed of this data. We should be able to see how many terrorists TSA has stopped, how much its cost us ( and why ), and how much time they have set us back ( aka the average wait time is xx ). Obviously the deterrent aspect of just being present is still relevant, but if its costing us 200 million a year and we've caught 0 incidences in the last decade, I'm pretty sure we can deal with it in other ways.

Same thing with these checkpoints, where is the data to prove they are worthwhile. We are depending on chutes and ladders to prove they are worth it which should not be acceptable to any citizen. I want to see real data. How much immigration checkpoints have prevented immigration, how much do they cost, what is the average wait time. This not only inconviences but causes additional pollution.

The point is to get informed people making informed decisions, if these actions ( which until they are proven otherwise ) are a drag on our resources, then we should be finding alternative solutions and putting leaders in those positions that will.

Our country is disorganized and inefficient to the point that it feels like they are doing it on purpose.

None, they have stopped none. As a matter of fact, they let the bombers on the plane and then sort it out when (if) it lands.

What type of quality assurance plans do they have in place to test TSA?

                                8 Billion? sigh

Like most failed government programs, many people think that the solution is to throw more money at the problem, even though the first version of the TSA spent far more than the private screeners they replaced, and since then the TSA's budget has increased from $4.7 billion in 2002 to $7.8 billion in 2011.
