The redline Flight is 1K and the carbon fiber version of the Flight is 2K+... both of those are too much bike for a 2nd grader.

Glad kids still ride bikes, since they are too lazy to drive.

I can't find any record of Dynos still being made. i had a few Compes back in the day. I bright blue and a silver. I bought one from an old guy in S. Irving named Mr. Cooper. Rumor has it he paid kids to steal bikes for him to repaint and resell. Who knows, but he did have some sweet bikes for much cheaper than the bike shops.

I used to roll one of these, fucking loved this bike, got stolen from school in Irving, gay.

Why is that Redline so expensive?

Man this brings back so many memories. I worked my butt off working odd farm jobs in Gardendale, Tx to buy my first Mongoose at around 12. It was around $200 and weighed as much as a tank. Kept working and replacing one component at a time until I ended up with a Redline Proline PL-20 with Flight Cranks, Uni one piece seat, Haro one piece bars, Z-rims with Bullseye hubs, etc. BMX raced in Midland for several years then changed over to free style for a few years. Switched to a GT Pro Performer frame and graphite mags for free styling until I cracked the frame and then went to a PK Ripper, then Quad Angle. I actually hung on to the bike for nearly 25 years and sold it just a couple of years ago.

I've never been into BMX bikes so maybe one of you can answer this.

I'm all for paying for quality and have a moderately expensive mountain bike, but what makes such a small bike with no shocks, gears, shifters, derailers etc cost so much?

X2345, don't forgot, it doesn't have front brakes either!

That's a factory built racing bike, you can get much lighter/better, but that's a good start. BMX is pretty serious racing for some kids, and a light bike can be a step closer to the podium.

Weight was the main selling factor for us, plus quality. My boy wants to go "fast"

If you've never broken a frame or taco'ed a wheel so bad that it won't roll anymore....the two hundred dollar bike is for you.

Most of the better BMX bikes have a stronger but lighter frame, better cranks, bars, pedals and wheels.
Weight is everything when you have a kid racing competitively. Average street bike weighs around 25-30 lbs. Aluminum/titanium bikes are half as heavy at the least. My sons Black Lite titanium weighed in at a bit over10 lbs.

I was honestly curious, it just seems like you are getting a lot more per dollar in a mountain bike. Surely the profit margins have to be higher on bmx.
