  • Pics from Calsbad Caverns

We went there for a couple days during vacation a few weeks back. Been there few times when I was kid, but don't really remember too much. Anyways, this was my 1st time taking pictures in the dark(some light of course). Used my Nikon D60 with a Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G. Only lens I bought for everyday use. Still a rookie, but I thought these came out pretty good. For some reason, the camera threw in some greenish tint. Think it was a setting on camera, but thought it looked cool anyways...lol.

Pretty much have the best ones here, but all of them are here...http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...view=slideshow

I went last July. Before that, it had probably been 20 years since the last time i had been down. The only difference i really remember was how dry he pools were this time.

Nice! I went there a few years ago, also when I had gotten my first DSLR lol. Would really like to go back again now that my skills are a little more polished. My shots also had the tinted look to it but think its just the lighting they use and the reflections off all the stuff in there. Did the caves north of San Antonio recently and those were pretty fun as well

Been 15-16yrs for me as well.

I only remember a couple of rooms but the most vivid memories are a parachute line hanging from a hole in the ceiling that led to another set of caverns that we were not able to reach.
There was also a man made ladder that went to another section that was no longer accessible. Both of these items were left over from an earlier expedition around the mid 1800's.

And of course we waited until nightfall for the bats to come out, that was pretty cool

The line and the ladder are still there. Pretty crazy the they went down there in that time period. We saw the bats too, just that they wouldn't let us take any pictures. That was awesome.

Thanks for the pics. I went in 1987, but my pics turned out shitty when they were developed. We didn't have fancy smancy digital cameras back then.
