RC B-29 with X-1

Saw this at the hobby shop the other day and I am SO tempted to buy it.

As I recall (from tv documentaries), they lifted the B up to position the X-1 in place.

Yep, looks like ground clearance was an issue. It may have been an add-on after the initial build, taller landing gear would have been the thing to use in the build. And mounting under the wing made for a less complicated build too, no bomb door needed.sigpic

In the beginning there was a "loading pit" that the X-1 was in and the B-29 taxied over it.
Later they went to hydraulics to lift the B-29. At one point they had hydraulic rams that came up out of the tarmac under the wheels.
