I did a search on Dallas Mustangs and came up with this. Is this the rear valance you're speaking of? If my dad likes the valance, I'll order it for him and have it painted.

Thanks for the heads up Vert, I dig that valance and I hope my Dad does too.

You're welcome! I cut my teeth on the old stuff and I've always liked the factory look that valance gives those cars. They used to come in primer, so with a little fresh paint, he's good to go! Be sure and post up the pics when it's done.

Yes sir, I'll post a pic once the new valance is on. It's difficult to tell in the pic, but do you think that his current exhaust tips will work with this valance, or would I need to use a different set? If so, what would you recommend?

Love it. Good looking vintage pony. I just got done restoring a '66 so I could give you some local references for anything.

For disk brakes, I went with the Scarebird setup and couldn't be happier. I liked the single piston floating caliper setup, and all of the parts for the swap were purchased at NAPA, with exception to the Scarebird caliper brackets. I did the whole swap for less than $400. Only downside is I had to ditch the old 14" cragars and buy 15" wheels, but some 14's might just clear.

Scarebird Classic Brakes LLC offers quality conversion brackets that require no spindle modifications, and use quality, inexpensive off-the-shelf parts available from your local NAPA or Autozone - and through discount internet suppliers such as RockAuto.com.

Excellent BG. I was going ask y'all what options my Dad has concerning a front disc brake conversion. I think his new wheels are 15's, if so that's a plus. Thanks a ton my friend.

Looks like they might be snug, but they could fit right in. The original tips on the GT's were double-tips on each side, but are about the same shape as the rectangular units he has now.

No problem. I just stayed away from "disc brake conversion kits"...or anything with "kit" in the description because it's usually overpriced, extra parts, and needs customizing anyway. That, and since brakes are regularly serviced, where would I get the replacement parts? I liked the Scarebird setup for its' simplicity, budget price, and easily accessible parts. Just my .02

I'd be happy to answer any questions you have on this setup.

I'd be happy to answer any questions you have on this setup.

When this project first started, I mentioned to my dad that he should browse some classic Mustang forums so he would have an idea of what's out there. He just looked at me and said "Son, I don't know how to turn on dang computer" I just laughed, and did the best I could for him. So yes, everything I found that had the words "front/disc/brake/conversion/kit" were insanely priced. When I told him what I found and how much it was priced, and he just decided to roll around on four drums till he was ready to cross that bridge. This will be right up his alley.

I do have some question for you Baba Ganoush.

Will the Scarebird conversion come with all the part numbers, or list of parts required to finish the job? I'm sure it will and that would answer my next question, but I'll ask anyway.
What are you using for inner and outer wheel bearings?
Do you have power assist brakes?
Are you running disc up front and drums in the rear?
What master cylinder did you use?

Thanks again. BTW, your set-up looks nice.

-In that link I posted above -@ the bottom it gives you part references, but you're only in the ball park. I made a list from Napa's website. You use the bearings for the Ranger Rotor, reuse your spindle, and use the machined spacer that scarebird sends you. Just pay attention to measurements, the year/make/model of application isn't as important, and the parts guys LOVE that.

                          Rotors: 1995-97 Ford Ranger 2WD
                          Calipers and Pads: 1983-95 S10 2WD
Hoses: 1979-85 Cadillac Eldorado (17") or 1979 Cadillac Seville (15")

Only issue I had were differing sets of pads that came with the loaded calipers. Ones set fit, one didn't. Check all parts at the counter before leaving

No power with rear drums, and its a 70's Maverick variation dual bowl Master cylinder. I only needed to replace one small section of break line to the old distribution block, I then connected to the existing lines.

I would avoid any of the Granada brake swaps too. I did the Open Tracker Granada swap on mine and am not pleased with it.

Awesome car. I have my 68 ripped up right now. Are you sure it is a 67? The badge on the side is in cursive and I thought that was for 68. I thought 67 had the block lettering the front hood lid and with the engine badge. Still looks sweet!

Unless he replaced the quarter panels with the 67 vented scoops and no side markers, as well as deleted the side markers from the front fenders, I'd say it is more likely he added a non-original badge.
