Dont get a big head, I was looking for options for our MII lemons car, and found out that they have the same (demensionally) rear 8" as the ~65s. I found an article from 91 where they did a swap using a pull out they got from saleen. If you really wanted, you could retain the quad shock.

Ugh, quad shocks on the old leaf subframe? That sounds like something that technically can be done, but shouldn't. I already know I'm bad at math. I don't need to prove it to the world by trying to fab my own rear suspension, lol.

I've been half heartedly looking for a project car and have found a couple of promising 65/66 coupe's.

          Blake,
When you're ready to start doing the research on an 8.8, check into swapping out the long axle with another short axle on the explorer rearend. I read somewhere that the dimension comes out real close to the early mustang rearend. I know Apache salvage in Kennedale had two explorer rearend's for $75 a piece. Swap around the axles to one and weld on the leaf mounts and you have a really nice 31 spline with disc brakes.
Keep in mind if you do the foxbody you still need to swap over to 5 lug axles. I think the explorer is a much better option in my opinion.
If I didn't already have a lincoln versaille rearend already under my '65, I would be doing more serious research on the explorer rearend. But I think it can be done way less than a grand.

Yeah, I've heard that one. Definitely a good way to get into rear disc brakes.

I swapped to a fox 8.8 rear (as I had it laying around) and I didnt like the idea the explorer was 'offset'. I was/am not planning on a ton of horsepower, so it was the perfect rear for me. I have a write up on the cardomain specifically for the swap.

Very cool. Your car is awesome man. From the shaved emblems to the hood/tail and wheels, it's really sharp.

Same color as that Vette, I'm assuming. Yea, no problem. Give me a day or so and I'll knock it out, unless someone does it beforehand. Might have time tomorrow evening to sit down and chop it.

                      • Did I mention its an EFI conversion??

This pic is not that good and I just need to get some new ones. The AC lines had not been installed, etc.

I'll put some up in another thread.

Thanks Blake. It wasn't an even trade of course, but we are both happy with the deal in the end.

Here's a couple more interior pics....

                            • This is for a customer of mine. It came in with great body work, a solid motor(carb).. but that is it. 100% stock suspension, terrible interior, etc.

So we tore it down to the tub, and are installing a TCI coil over kit, EFI and updating the interior and stereo.

Came here like this: (looking for exterior pics )

Slowly going back together: (shock tower close-outs not yet in place)

                              lots more pics here:
