It's not the new 6.2L if that's what you mean.
The Coyote is a totally different design.Originally posted by PGreenCobraI can't get over the fact that you get to go live the rest of your life, knowing that someone made a Halloween costume out of you. LMAO!!Originally posted by Trip McNeelyOriginally posted by dsrtuckteezydont downshift!!

There's lots of expensive engineering tweaks, but it's still a bored-out 5.4L.
The Coyote is a totally different design.
What I was saying, not that it's possible but to take 6.2l displacement from the new 6.2 SOHC and somehow throw dohc coyote style heads on it.. Pretty much just make a larger displacement coyote engine w/ a tvs.
Put it in a new ford GT.. !

Not saying they might not produce the engine in some capacity for a longer-term project with lots of production (like the 5.4L started off as a truck engine and ended up in the 2000 Cobra R, for instance) but $$$-wise it doesn't make sense.
It has some pretty big shoes to fill being that fords main goal with any of the GTs is to beat Ferrari.. The 458 would be it's competition in today's world.. And that's a very awesome car.

I wish Ford could produce a new 2 seater coupe that on the surface competes with the C6, 370z, Boxter S, BMW Z series etc, but like the Corvette has the capacity to be modified heavily and cheaply.Originally posted by PGreenCobraI can't get over the fact that you get to go live the rest of your life, knowing that someone made a Halloween costume out of you. The ls9 is a bad bitch, but so is fords new 5.8.
If-if-if-if ford used a modified coyote head on thier current 6.2l truck engine and put a blower on it, how much power do you think it would make? I think a lot.
Not that this holds any weight, but I was reading an article in a truck magazine, it was the raptor engine (6.2l) vs the silverado (6.2l). Bone stock the ford made more power and torque by a conserible amount and it made the power lower in the rpm range.. So they put the same supercharger kit (centrifugal) on each truck, same boost ect.. And fords made a retarded amount more power them the GM, something like 50+ hp and Torque.. And that's ford SOHC, I wonder what It would do with DOHC VVT?
GM 6.2l is a nasty motor, OCII proved that to me in the "FRIDGE" for headers and a tune + w/e else it was moving for a big heavy pick up.
I'm just happy to see Ford back in the game with powerplants. They've been behind GM for quite a while with their old school 4.6 and 5.4 powerplants, so it's good to see these new 5.0 engines, newish 6.2 truck engines, and the 5.8 blown monster Ford is putting out nowadays.
Now, it's time for the Gen 5 small blocks to come out from GM and they will invariably raise the bar again. Competition is good.Ford

So funny, I spout off stats, engine displacements, horsepower levels, etc. and I get these stupid responses like, "you don't know what you're talking about...you're ignorant, go do some reading, etc." and then said stupid responses list ZERO FACTS to substantiate the call-out.
I clearly know a little about what I'm talking about when I'm a GM guy, but still know quite a bit about Ford engine history, at least over the last 15-20 years.Ford

They both make great power, it comes down to who can put it work. Mustamg vs Camaro....straight line Mustang FTW. Sorry, but it's true.
My personal experience, the Ls3 is a bad bitch. I know for a "Fact", they can make 800 rwhp and survive DD habits at ease. I know because I done it, beat the ever lasting shit out of it in a 4000 pound car. Missed shifts on a button and all.
Not only that, the car had two separate drivers. There wasn't a single time I got in the car and didn't take it to 7400 rpm at least once just rowing gears. I made passes at the track just to keep the rust off of me. Granite the wife would have divorced me if she knew. She didn't want me to drive so I didn't. He did.
I wouldn't call 800 rwhp Ls3 a max effort build, it was on pump gas for sure. We made that much power through the stock fuel system with nitrous. 542 all motor and 80x on the spray.
For you guys questioning either build is entertaining. Do a mod for mod pound for pound boost test and I believe you'll see the OLD pushrod motor works well enough to compete vs the coyote.Doing enough racing for 99% of the board!
