              I agree that typing on the phone (texting, menus, etc.) is the primary reason that cell phones cause accidents, but it is also more difficult to be fully aware with the phone being physically helpd to your ear. I find it a bit more difficult to turn my head to check mirrors, blindspots, or even the lane(s) next to me.

              Sure, it can be done, but it will make usually less attentive drivers even less so. I have no problem at all with texting while driving being against the law, ESPECIALLY for young and inexperienced drivers. I conduct business from the car quite often, and it's no problem at all to make sure that my phone is paired and ready to go before I leave the garage. Even reading/replying to texts and e-mails is all done verbally.
